All My Loves in a Row

This is my place for me to talk about the things I love. It mainly focuses on media, especially music, but there are also some other things on here. I hope you like my taste and/or find something new to get into.

Music

I am always listening to some kind of music. It is truly one of the best things in this world, alongside ramen and snow days. I love a lot of types of music, though mainly I listen to Post-Punk, New Wave, Industrial, Riot Grrrl, Showgaze and Acid/Madchester. As of the minute of typing, my favourite musicians are My Chemical Romance, Hole, Poppy, The Cure, Fiona Apple, Aaliyah, The Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, David Bowie and The Smiths. You can find some of my favourite songs on my lyrics page.

Currently my CD collection sits at a comfortable 143 total, when I last counted the spines. Iโ€™m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to CDs so that number is likely to not go down, not when I know what Iโ€™m missing from my collection.

Film

My favourite film ever is Ginger Snaps (2000). If you've never seen it, you gotta do yourself a favour: drop everything and go watch it. I own the DVD, the Scream Magazine from January 2021 featuring a retrospective and have some photos of Katherine Isabelle, who played Ginger, on my wall. I refuse to watch the sequels. Cool link to check out is this Ginger Snaps Fansite: The Curse is Back; It's rad.

Below is my Topster for film, though it changes often. A close sixteenth is Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Truman Show, or the Birdcage. I don't have a favourite director, but my favourite actor is Andrew Garfield. He seems like someone you could go for coffee with.

Television

I don't really have the ability to truly concentrate on a show unless it's got subtitles and, even then, I tend to just watch the same shows over and over again. The one I am worst for it the first five series of Supernatural (which is so bad yet so good and yet so addictive), followed by Merlin. I love shows where they allow room for interaction with fans to create; I love to live in the worlds and write around them, expanding as I see fit.

Other shows I like include Twin Peaks (duh), Hannibal, The Mighty Boosh, Quantum Leap, early series Simpsons, Succession and Always Sunny. Non-television shows I like are LA By Night (an actual-play show of Vampire: The Masquerade โ€“ you are meant to hate all the characters) and The Magnus Archives (iirc itโ€™s been two years since I last listened to any). I liked Horrible Histories, Wolfblood and Bagpuss as a kid.

I am meaning to get around to Malcolm in the Middle, Midnight Mass and Seinfield. I also need to pick Daredevil back up after forgetting to watch anything past series one. I donโ€™t care about Marvel except for Team Red: Spider-Man, Daredevil and Deadpool.

Games

Like with television, I also only like to play video games Iโ€™ve played before and I also tend to play older games. Some personal favourites are Inscryption, Vampire: The Masquerade โ€“ Bloodlines, Mario Kart: Double Dash and Pathologic.

I love RPGs the most and Puzzle games, so that is why I love the Legend of Zelda series so much. I go back of forth on if I prefer Twilight Princess of Majoraโ€™s Mask, but both are so superb you canโ€™t go wrong with either. I suppose I am excited for the Zelda coming out in โ€™23 though I donโ€™t like the lack of personality in Breath of the Wild and donโ€™t fucking go โ€œAge of Calamity expanded-โ€™ because that game is not canon to me. I love the open world and donโ€™t get me wrong, but I wish there was more of a personality in the present!Hyrule in game, like with how the Zora reacted to you. Anyway, I love Breath of the Wild and I am excited for the sequel.

Also, I do like some life sims, like Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Stardew Valley and grew up playing a shit-ton of Minecraft, Undertale, OFF, Mother and Yume Nikki. Iโ€™ve got Fallout: New Vegas and Disco Elysium to play when Iโ€™ve got time so they might show up on here in the future.

I also like to create characters for Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition for funsies. My current one is a thin-blood lead singer who is struggling between diablery his Toreador sire to get more powerful or keeping his living found family and fame, as one of his boons of being a thin-blood is he is a daywalker. He works the close at Staples and is very heavily inspired by my experiences with chronic illness and autism and is based somewhat of Gerard Way. I think my thin-bloodโ€™s cool at least. If you're interested in Vampire, shoot me an e-mail and we can chat about it! :)

Collecting

I like to collect weird things. I own a bat preserved in resin, which I use as a paperweight; bells; dolls; scraps of lace; tags I get off stuffed animals; stuffed animals - my favourite is my Pompompurin; Gamecube and (3)DS games; DVDs; keyrings; poetry and plays; obscure comicbooks and zines; little pottery pieces; things with Snoopy, Miffy and Moomins on; Laura Ashley skirts; things which are green and I obsessively buy My Chemical Romance merch. I have ordered a Gerard Way Hesistant Alien promotional deadstock poster which I hope to put up soon alongside a load of My Chemical Romance keyrings.

Other acquisitions I wish to make are: A G1 Clawdeen Wolf Monster High doll in her original outfit; a G3 Abbey Bominable Monster High doll; an Xpress it Meygan Bratz doll; every single Pinkie Cooper and the Jet Set Pets doll; Twilight Princess for the Gamecube; Animal Crossing for the Gamecube; Space Channel 5 OST CD; a Mikey Way signed object - listings for bass picks come up quite often; and like a fuckton of CDs. I also want to get a bass, but I may hold off until I get my surgery this summer as I won't be able to work.
